Mojo’s Limping Problems

Recently, Mojo had difficulty getting up and about after a period of time at rest. At first, I had thought that it was his leg falling asleep but after a week or two I became concerned and took him to the vet.

After a cursory inspection of his remaining hind leg the vet could not determine if there was an injury to his remaining hind leg, however, being a Tripawd, you can’t really tell if he is limping or not. So the vet prescribed the following:

I already had him on Glucosamine and to continue that.

He was prescribed a half tablet of DeraMaxx 75mg (Deracoxib) as an anti-inflammatory for 2 weeks time.

Also suggested 1000mg of Fish Oil.

So far, so good! He’s quick to get back up and his hind leg does not seem to bother him.

Mojo’s Epulis

Mojo was recently diagnosed with a growth on his gums called an Epulis.  An Epulis is a mucous cyst that is a painless, thin sac on the inner surface of the lips or gums.  It contains clear fluid.  The literal translation is “gum boil”.    Most often benign, these do have a chance to grow back.

He was able to eat fine but we noticed that it kept growing…so we decided to take him to the vet.  This is the before picture:

After removal the gum area looked like this:

Mojo prepares for Winter

This will be our first winter with three legs so we’re just preparing and getting everything ready for some 3 legged snow adventures.

We just got back from Atlantic City for a Phish Halloween show…and judging from the picture, Mojo sure liked it.

A Tripawd is a happy dog!

Mojo just keeps on trucking. He can run just as fast as he did with 4 legs. He’s the best!

Mojo’s Curiosity!

Thought I would share this picture with everyone. A bird fell out if its nest and as I nurtured it back to health, Mojo just couldn’t resist his curiosity.

Mojo’s Pivot Move! (Now with Video)

Here is a quick glimpse of Mojo doing his pivot move.  I hope to have better video, but it’s hard to catch the wily guy in action.

Happy Birthday Mojo!

On this day, in the year 2003, Mojo was brought into this world. Be it by chance, coincidence, or fate, he was brought into my world a few years later. He lost his leg in a car accident but kept his spirit intact.

He may be 49 in dog years, but he’s #1 in our hearts!

The New Pivot Move!

Mojo doesn’t really chase balls or sticks or plays fetch.  What he does is runs around in the yard trying to avoid me.  It’s like a game of tag.  Now that he’s missing his rear hind leg he’s got this pivot move where he’ll just bust out a 180 on me and head the other direction!  It’s classic!

Day Something or Other!

Mojo all better!

Mojo is back to 100%! Well, 75% if you consider the loss of his limb. Anyway, he’s back to his old self and the only time I ever experience his “disability” is when he wants to jump up on me. It’s quite funny actually, it’s usually when I ask him to do his “happy dance” when I get home from work.  He’ll attempt to jump up and forgetting his back leg is missing, he’ll simply stumble a bit on his backside.

He’s a great dog and I’m pleased with how he has bounced back! Cheers all!
